Credentials and Qualifications

Professional Mentor: Certified music teacher who is professionally certified or experienced in teaching a musical instrument.

Master's degree in music

Verification of employment at an institution of higher learning (a web page from your institution with your name/bio/pic is sufficient),

Equivalency in teaching and performance. Examples may include - resume recordings, performances, links on YouTube, web page, and recommendations, etc.

Community Mentor: An experienced musician that enjoys teaching informally.

Bachelor's degree in music or equivalent experience.

18 years or older.

Video Introduction

You are required to create a video introduction to become a musical mentor with C4E. This video introduction will be your opportunity to display your teaching style and personality to potential students.

NOTE: The video is a requirement to post your profile on the C4E Mentor site, but you can still submit the application now and provide your introduction video at a later date. The video needs to convey and introduction of yourself to your students. You can use your cell phone to create the video.

1. VIDEO RULES

Do:

Film horizontally
Play your instrument
Keep the length from 1 to 4 minutes
Have good lighting and clear sound
For best results, the video aspect ratio should be 16:9

Don't:

Provide personal contact information
Advertise or promote other services
Use copyrighted music or any media in which you do not have the rights
Shoot vertical or square videos.

2. TIPS

Create a Script:

Who are you? Create a script and practice. Introduce yourself.
What is your name? What instruments do you play? Include your credentials, work experience, and other interesting backgrounds.
What are your lessons like? Do you enjoy teaching? Do you have a preferred method of teaching? What is your attitude toward music teaching? You might include specific details about the activities you do during lessons and show materials you use.
Use your Instrument: Show how you would teach by using your instrument of choice.
Show your personality: Smile: Make students feel welcome in your online classes.
Be Yourself: Show or tell something interesting about yourself. Do you have special hobbies that students might enjoy discussing with you? Choose clothing or background that really represents you.

Other Tips

Be natural - Do not read directly from a script! Look into the camera. Make it as though you are speaking directly to your student.
Think of your students - The care you take in preparing for your video shows students not only what you think of yourself, but how they can expect you to prepare for your classes with them.
Mention C4E - Doing this and adding a link to your teacher profile in the description will help people find and book your classes on our website. 
Dress appropriately: Smart casual is acceptable. Remember that first impressions count!

Additionally, I agree to C4E publishing my introduction video to C4E official channels on third-party video hosting and streaming services, such as YouTube, Vimeo, Youku, or others, as to ensure accessibility and visibility to C4E students regardless of location.(Required)
