My Introduction
About Me
Chris Argenziano has been a performer and educator since 2002. A self-taught player, he began his studies in earnest in 2010 when he took up classical guitar under the instruction of Michael Coates. Argenziano has since studied jazz and rock guitar with Tim Hoffelt, Michael Krajewski, and Steve Stine. Argenziano earned a B.S. in Music in 2013 from NDSU, then a Master's of Music in Classical Guitar Performance at the same institution in 2015. Argenziano has been a featured performer in master classes with Christopher Parkening, Michael Chapdelaine, Phillip Rukavina and the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet. He currently teaches guitar and applied music courses at Valley City State University.
Me as a Teacher
As a teacher, I am calm, composed, and professional. I find that there is a time to be firm in lessons in order to bring out the best in each student, but that must be balanced with a fun and compassionate teaching environment.
My Teaching Style
My teaching philosophy is to give students a set of tools that they can readily access throughout their life as a musician. Developing critical thinking skills, an understanding of theory, history, technique, and musicality while also having the ability to apply this skill set to each piece of music the student approaches is a main goal. I do adjust my teaching to fit the age, level, and musical interest of each student. If I have done my job right, my students will no longer need me.
