Soprano Alyssa Toepfer has been praised as a performer with "unbridled dexterity" (Kansas City Star) and a "marvelous, soaring tone" (KC Metropolis). 
She has performed with The Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Opera Omaha, Opera Grand Rapids, Wichita Grand Opera, The South Dakota Symphony, Opera South Dakota, Landlocked Opera, and Opera180, among others. As a choral musician, she sings with Spire, The GRAMMY award-winning ensembles The Kansas City Chorale and The Crossing. She holds a BA in Voice from Augustana University and an MM in Voice from The University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music.

My background in voice science and knowledge of vocal function are the primary focus in my teaching. I work to create exercises for each student that target specific areas to help their voice improve. The pace of each lesson is determined by the student, and I lead with questions and encourage students to ask questions of me. I also work to foster musicianship and creativity - singing is so personal and individual, and I work to develop each singer’s voice to be the best that it possibly can be. It is also a primary goal of mine to instill confidence and self-reliance in every student, so that they walk out of every lesson feeling empowered and motivated to practice on their own.

No two people are exactly alike, and no two voices are alike either! While certain fundamental principles apply to all voices, there are infinite ways to achieve desired results from individual students. So, my “method” is to have a different and flexible approach with each student. The approach is tailored to that individual’s learning style, personality, and unique vocal qualities. Thus, my approach is essentially holistic and creative in style.
