I currently teach private lessons in Piano and Voice for Southeastern University. I have a Bachelor of Music Degree from The University of North Carolina School of the Arts . I have a Masters in Music - Appalachian State University in saxophone performance, and I have a Masters level teaching certificate in Music Education from ASU also. I wrote 5 courses for SEU including Worship Piano, Worship Voice, Worship Guitar, and Worship Music Theory 1 and 2. I spent 25 years working for a church of 18,000 as Musical Director, then Worship School Director

I have been teaching private lessons since the age of 14, continuing to do this even while I was a director. I teach with enthusiasm and passion. I have a unique diagnostic ability, and have proven able to make transformational changes in the performance of private students on Saxophone, Piano, and Voice. I teach with my ears, my experience, my professional level performance skills as an example, and the accumulation of influences given me by world class instructors . I have performed as a featured soloist with symphony orchestras on saxophone, as well as with pop performers such as Natalie Cole and Tony Bennett. I would be strongest in teaching sax, but am very effective with voice and piano.

I am able to teach students from beginner to expert levels. I often take more time and send more videos of my hands playing a piece with beginners, to get them off to a strong start. I always try to balance encouragement and challenge, while leaning harder on encouragement. I also emphasize the students practice habits, and adjust recommendations on these based on students level of experience and learning styles. I get great reviews from my university students, emphasizing that I care about their learning and help them achieve their goals. I am definitely able to adjust to the different learning styles of different students, and I do well with patiently encouraging students of all levels.
