I have been playing (French) horn since I was 10, and it's taken me around the world and given me innumerable fantastic experiences. I completed my DMA in horn performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison under the supervision of Douglas Hill. I've performed in Italy, Brazil, Austria, and Taiwan, and around the U.S. I teach horn in person at Berry College in Georgia, and teach multiple music classes at Dalton State College. During the pandemic, I took advantage of the extended downtime to launch a serious study of the natural horn (horn without valves) and have become quite skilled with that instrument, which has continued to enhance my skills as a modern horn player and teacher.

I would characterize myself as a tough but flexible teacher. My personal goal is always to be prepared with information to put in front of the student, and to be prepared to change direction when/as needed. I love helping students to explore their own interests and goals, and to overcome roadblocks in their playing and musicianship. I strive to be as tough as is needed, and to hold my students to a high standard while also allowing them freedom to explore.

I think my style is very straightforward -- what you see is what you get. I strive always to meet students where they are, whatever their level or particular needs. Music is demanding, and there's no getting around that, so I also must decide when the time is right to push students through their own barricades. I try to do that with a firm but gentle attitude.
